As of June 9, 2023, dealers are required to comply with the amended FTC Safeguards Rule that will require some significant changes to their customer information management practices. As a dealer- and privacy-first organization, Upstart is here to help.

Upstart Auto Retail’s (UAR’s) omni-channel online and in-store platform provides product features that support dealers in their customer information management practices.  

- **Multi-factor authentication:** Upstart provides Multi-Factor Authentication to improve security and permissions on specific systems that access PII (Personally Identifiable Information), including its iOS Application and Manager’s Dashboard. With Manager’s Dashboard, Upstart Auto Retail also provides control for who can access pertinent customer information.
- **Secure sending and storage of customer PII:** Upstart Auto Retail digitizes all customer personal identifiable information (PII) and deal data by uploading this directly into the Upstart Auto Retail tool. This eliminates paper documentation and storing customer information on sales peoples’ devices.
- **Consistent application of standards across every deal:** By connecting customers’ information from online to in-store digitally, the deals remain consistent throughout the entire customer buying process. 

With the amended regulatory changes mandated by the FTC, dealers must ensure they have a digital retail tool that protects their customers’ information.
